1950s Studio Portrait - By Alfred Crossberg / Kreutzberger

A fabulous black & white studio portrait by Alfred Crossberg - formally Alfred Kreutzberger.

This photograph, of an unidentified model, was taken in the 1950s. Kreutzberger was a German Jew and a prominent photographer / filmmaker working in Berlin in the 1930s. Alfred is documented as a filmmaker who recorded footage of the Graf Zeppelin LZ127 and the arrival of German President Von Hindenburg to open a sports stadium named after him.

With the rise of the Nazi party - Kreutzberger fled Germany in 1937 and started a photographic studio in Johannesburg, South Africa. Alfred Kreutzberger anglicised his surname to Crossberg. Later Alfred would move to Cornwall and set up a photography studio in Looe.

This is a rare opportunity to own a Crossberg photograph which would look amazing framed as interior decoration. Some foxing and bumps to corners. We have several other Crossberg photographs of models from a large portfolio.
